Lacquered wooden frame
In the context of a research for a video animation from the archive of the Rijksmuseum I found the painting by Rembrandt van Rijn: Portrait of a Woman, Possibly Maria Trip. From this painting I used a small part, the woman’s left eye. I manipulated it digitally, so that her eye now blinks. With the title Eye You, the viewer is directly confronted with the eye of the painting. An eye that winks at us from the past. Rembrandt van Rijn, as well as the past participate in our current history. The Dutch wooden frame focuses the view.
